The Holiday Bake Calendar

The single most requested thing in our community thread was not a recipe. It was a schedule. Here is the season, planned backward, so December is a joy instead of a scramble.

September
Soak the fruit for fruitcake, Klaben, and rum cake. Make and jar the Christmas jam. Order panettone molds.
October
Practice the star bread. Bake the cranberry orange loaf just because. And on the 24th, convert a piece of your starter to lievito madre. Panettone season starts quietly, right here.
November
Freeze dinner roll dough and cinnamon roll pans. Bake and wrap the fruitcakes. Stollen and kringle for gifting. The panettone recipes land, and your lievito madre earns its keep with daily refreshes.
Thanksgiving Week
Cornbread, rolls, bread bowls. The rehearsal already happened. Now it is just the show.
December
Stollen by the 5th for its three week rest. Panettone, together, on the 12th, so it hangs, rests, and hits the table for Christmas. Tree bread and wreaths. Christmas morning runs on the freezer.
Dec 26 and Beyond
Kringle for New Year's brunch, with zero pressure. Then challah, vasilopita, and Three Kings bread to carry us into January.

The Thanksgiving Table

Rolls, cornbread, and the bakes that hold the fourth Thursday together.

Christmas Morning and the Sweet Table

What comes out of the oven while the coffee brews.

Showstoppers and Gift Loaves

The bakes that get photographed before they get eaten.

The Whole Holiday Table

Challah for the celebrations, bowls for the soup, and the loaf that carries the season.

New This Season

Thirteen new recipes built from what our members asked for by name, and every one is in the Recipe Pantry now with full scaling, timers, and a printable one-sheet. The four waves below are the season's rhythm: when each bake takes the spotlight, from the September soak to the December table. And one big change this year: panettone moved up, so your lievito madre is ready and December is calm.

Give Bread Instead. A Better Gift. Baking Great Bread at Home.

September, the Soak

Get the fruit in the brandy. These four start in September or they do not start at all.

October, the Practice

Low stakes, high payoff. Build the skills before the season gets loud. And on the 24th, panettone quietly begins.

November, the Gifts and the Summit

The breads that travel, keep, and get better while they wait. This is also where panettone lands now, moved up from December so the fruit soaks, the madre peaks, and nobody scrambles.

December, the Victory Lap

One easy showstopper while the stollen rests and the panettone hangs upside down. The hard work is already behind you.

Saturday Bake-Alongs

Every one of these runs live in the Crust & Crumb Academy. Print the one-sheet, preheat the oven, and bake with a few hundred friends.
